Dear Patron of the Arts,
Thank you for supporting live theatre!
As we approach the holidays many of us are working hard to be able to give a little something to the people we love. Fuse Theatre Ensemble is hoping we can make that short list. After all, we've been a lil' naughty but mostly nice, right?
In our first season under the Artistic Direction of Kate Mura and Rusty Tennant, Fuse really made a splash. We produced over 20 shows including The Mini-Fringe Festival, The Gay Pride Reading Festival, and four original works - #smarter_than_phones, Suburban Tribe, MySp_ce, and Karaoke Night! (the musical) - and toured to perform in San Francisco, Los Angeles and at the New Orleans Fringe Festival.
Our momentum is definitely headed in the right direction but in order to make the next step, we need your support. We have big plans for the upcoming 2012 season. Last year was about re-structuring our foundations; this season is about re-connecting with the classics.
- Fuse plans to bring you all 154 of Shakespeare's sonnets through a multi-media performance called Sonnetscape giving us and our audience the ability to finally say, "I know the Sonnets." (Spoiler: they do not tell the story you expect them to tell.)
- Secondly, we are Fusing with our buddies in Portland's Original Practice Shakespeare Festival to bring you a theatrical event unlike any you may have seen. Without giving away too much, make sure you pack a tent, sleeping bag, and party essentials, because this Midsummer Night's Dream is in real-time.
- In addition we were encouraged to continue to grow Karaoke Night! (the musical) for the 2012 Fertile Ground Festival, celebrating our characters keeping Portland weird.
- Perhaps our greatest undertaking, however, will be a citywide effort: the first-ever PDXFringe Festival. Fringe fests dominate some of the most important cultural cities on the planet (Edinburgh, NYC, London, Toronto, New Orleans, San Francisco, Minneapolis, Brussels - just to name a few) and Portland deserves to be in the mix.
None of these projects can happen without financial support. We hope this holiday season you will find it in your hearts (and pocketbooks) to give ANY amount to help us achieve our goals and to provide you with the highest quality theatre possible. Of course we are applying for grants, but so is everyone else. We need your help too, so we're sweetening the pot.
For every $100 donation we will offer two complimentary tickets to the Fuse 2012 show of your choosing.
For donations of $1000 or more you will receive 2 season subscriptions and a framed poster of the inaugural PDXFringe autographed by the artists.
For any amount received you will be listed in our programs as a patron of Fuse.
