under the artistic direction of Kerry Sorci and founding members Francesca Sanders, Gordon Romei, Merritt Glover, Ron Sorci, and current Co-Artistic Director Kate Mura. The vision upon conception was one of vital theatre: plumbing the classics, unearthing new adaptations, and writing new and timely works for the ensemble to define in Viewpoints-based processes.
2010 brought lots of new things to Fuse! (...not to mention Kerry and Ron's beautiful, now 1.5 year old daughter Emersyn Clara Sorci.) With our roots firmly planted in the classics and the Viewpoints vocabulary as established by Anne Bogart and Tina Landau, we began an exploration of even more experimental, site-specific, politically responsive new works.
Today, Fuse stands before you as a production engine. Under the Co-Artistic Direction of Kate Mura and Rusty Tennant, we've devised two new works for Portland's Fertile Ground Festival, fused with other Portland and national playwrights, celebrated Gay Pride Month with a reading series, and are in the process of founding Portland's very own fringe festival.
Coming up in the winter is Sonnetscape, a staging of all 154 of Shakespeare's sonnets and their accompanying narrative. Then, join us for a one-night-only Midsummer celebration unlike any other. Stay tuned...
